Common Causes of Shoulder Pain

At North East Chiropractic Center, the most common complaint that patients have is back problems, but closely following that are various types of shoulder pain. There's no one single cause; patients coming in for shoulder pain relief in New Haven have multiple reasons for their injuries. Whether they're looking for sports injury treatment or relief from pain caused by an auto accident, our patients deal with a wide variety of shoulder problems.

Fort Wayne Chiropractor Talks About Shoulder Pain

Like many painful problems, shoulder pain can be caused by damage to the tissue, ligaments or skeletal structure. Our first task when you come to see Dr. Osenga, our Fort Wayne chiropractor, will be to give you a physical examination, including x-rays, to determine the cause of your pain. Some of the most common shoulder problems we see are:

  • Tendinitis   The swelling and inflammation of tendons attached to the shoulder bones. This can cause pain and swelling just outside the joint
  • Sprained Shoulder and Strained Shoulder  Sprains are stretched or torn ligaments, while strains are stretched or torn muscles or tendons
  • Rotator Cuff Injury  The rotator cuff is a group of muscles and tendons surrounding the shoulder. This is most often injured by people who perform repeated overhead stretching motions
  • Frozen Shoulder  Stiffness and pain, especially after an injury or incident that prevents movement for a long time
  • Shoulder Bursitis  The bursae are fluid-filled sacs that reduce friction between joints. Damage to these bursae can cause inflammation
  • Dislocated Shoulder  An injury where the end of the arm bone pops out of the cup-shaped shoulder socket
